Marriage: married to Elena Garro ( a fine writer herself) in 1937 and divorced in 1959.Remarried a French woman Marie-Jose Tramini in 1965.

Jobs: was appointed as Ambassador to India in 1962.fter 6 years, he resigned from Diplomatic service in protest against the massacre of student demonstrators in Tlatelolco.

Major Awards:1977 Jerusalem Prize; Nobel Prize for Literature in 1990.

Major Works: El Laberinto de la Soledad(1950) in english The Labyrinth of Solitude ; Piedra de sol(1957) in english Sun Stone; Pasado claro(1975), Vuelta(1976), Aguila o sol?(1951), The Collected Poems of Octavio Paz 1957-1987 (1987). His first poetic work was Luna Silvestre(1933) which in English is Wild Moon.
